Psst, did you know…?
There’s so much planned for Fete date day – make sure you come early to give yourself lots of time to get around to everything!
There’ll be lots to see and do. We have awesome rides and amusements, such as Dodgem Cars, The Hurricane, Cups & Saucers, a Jumping Castle and Giant Slide, and a Bungee Trampoline, just to name a few. Lots of stalls have booked in and will be selling a heap of great stuff, including delicious cakes, jewellery, creative crafts and so much more.
There’s an animal farm, face painting, ‘splash dunker’ and Taekwondo skills clinics. Our very own school Grub Club will on site too, hosting a plant stall. And lots of us on the Fete Committee are looking forward to having a go at the photo booth – it should be a hoot!
Food and drinks
You won’t go hungry or thirsty – we have extensive catering being organized, with lots different types of food available, such as kebabs, pizza and gozleme. And of course, it wouldn’t be a RWPS Fete without a Devonshire Tea! We will have a licensed bar selling wine and beer, and a coffee van will be on site as well.
The live entertainment at the stage area will be running throughout the Fete. There will be music from a number of bands, including students and teachers. Signorita Vargas will be heading up some Latin American sounds with her band ‘Las Mas Altos’ and Mr Kearney will do what he does best with his rock band ‘Indisposed.’ There will be performances from community dance troupes and singing groups. Look out for future stars performing in the grand finale of our very own talent quest ‘Reservoir’s Got Talent’ that will take place during the afternoon. Plus, rumour has it that the school staff is practising their very own act… (!) So grab the opportunity to have something to eat, drink and relax – and re-energise while enjoying the shows!
Prizes! Prizes! Prizes! – Lots of opportunities to win!
Lots of businesses – local and afar – have already donated very generously to us. And more prizes are arriving all the time. We have some fabulous hampers, family passes for entertainment and tourist venues, and meal vouchers, just to list a few. There has even been talk of a holiday to be won… (!) Tickets for the super-raffle will go on sale soon; and on Fete day there’ll be a spinning wheel running regularly and a silent auction to bid at as well.

COUPLE OF REMINDERS:
Don’t forget to return the Fete Volunteers form that went home last week. We really need the support from all of our RWPS community in order for it to come together on the day. ‘Many hands make light work’ and the more help we get, the more fun it is for everyone on Fete day. Please return your completed form by Friday 18th September.
Don’t forget about the ‘washing basket hampers.’ We’re still collecting donations until the end of Term 3. As reminder, here are the year level themes:
|YEAR LEVEL||THEME||EXAMPLE IDEAS|
|Foundation||COOKING||Tea towels, cookbooks, utensils|
|Year 1||GARDENING||Seed packets, tools, decorations|
|Year 2||HOBBIES/LEISURE/GAMES||Cards, board games, craft|
|Year 3||STATIONERY||Pencils, sticky-notes, folders|
|Year 4||TAKE A BREAK||Champagne, beauty products, candles|
|Year 5||SWEET TREATS||Jams, biscuits, drinking chocolate|
|Year 6||SPORT/FITNESS||Balls, bats, water bottles|
ITEMS MUST BE NEW / UNUSED; and if food-based, it must have a ‘best before date’ of after 31st December 2015.
Spread the word
Our fete, held every two years, is major fundraising initiative. All the proceeds and funds raised will go towards supporting our school. Whether it be buying classroom or specialist resources, or going towards buildings and grounds upkeep and development – such as a new canteen (!) – all the monies raised will, in some way, enable a better learning and engaging school environment for our students.
So tell everyone about our Twilight Fete – it’s going to be a wonderful event!
‘til next time
